Lunar Wolf wrote:then.. what does Deska mean? or it sounds like Desu but Deska
Well 'ka' has several different meanings, but when it is used at the end like with desu ka, it indicates a question. Basically it's like a spoken question mark.
So phrases like, nan desu ka, means what is it?

Re: The Japanese thread
Unfortunately I am going to end posting new words to this topic. I have been busy with a lot of things lately, not just work but with other things I decided to do outside of that. One of the things is my decision to learn Greek, plus I am writing books which takes a lot of time.
I don't think it will matter too much as all of you seem busy too, and all the things I post here can be learned from other sources. I will post some links following this if you want to learn more on your own. Of course I will always be willing to answer any questions about the language if I can do so.
Here are links for learning Nihongo; not that any of you really need more school-work, haha , but just in case you want to poke around and learn some on your own, here you go!
http://www.learn-japanese.info/
Good site for vocabulary and grammar.
http://jisho.org/
Japanese dictionary.
http://www.manythings.org/japanese/jlpt/
Japanese Language Proficiency Test quizzes.
http://www.realkana.com/
Great site to learn those Hiragana and Katakana symbols. This is the place I used years back to learn them.
There are many other good sites if you google Learn Japanese.
Well if you have any questions you can still post them in this thread, otherwise:
Domo Arigatou Gozaimasu, Minasan.
Owari desu.

Re: The Japanese thread
Okay. I will sneak a quick word/lesson in every once in a while then.
The symbol く is the syllable 'ku', and the symbol ま is the syllable 'ma'.
Together くま spells 'kuma', which is the word for bear.
It sounds like koo-mah.

Re: The Japanese thread
Nogamo is the word for wild duck.
It sounds like No-gah-mow (mow as in mowing the lawn, sorry I can't think of a better way to say what it sounds like. The o in the mo is long).
And Kogamo is the word for duckling or baby duck.
It sounds like Ko-gah-mow (same as above with the mowing).
Magamo is the word for a mallard duck.
It sounds like Mah-gah-mow (same as above).
